Happy Belated International Yoga Day!!
I have been quiet the last few weeks as our country and the
world dive deeper into dark water. I took this time to just be with myself,
work on some projects and enjoy my friends’ company as we discussed the state
of our world.
I’ve been soaking in all the Black Essence that has been
filling each of my platforms in different ways. This is not my battle to fight;
however that does not keep from educating myself on the matters at hand and supporting
people who mean something to me; while keeping an open mind and not allowing my
thoughts to be clouded with the ‘fake news’ that is out there swimming around
on the internet, filling our news feeds and leaving us none-the-wiser to what
is really happening. Not picking a side, but staying neutral to all matters at
hand.
From my girl Adriene ‘A reckoning is starting to percolate.’
We need change!
Every Human Is Enough. I may get angry (who doesn’t) and I
may get frustrated (again who doesn’t) especially at those careless drivers who
think they are the only ones on the road, but we are all made in the image of
the Lord and we should be treated as such. While we take a stand for those who
have fallen around us remember to take time for yourself, don’t burn all your
energy up. Relax and Replenish. I’ve been taking time to enjoy the company of
my friends, to read, to hike, to tend to my plants and to learn new things. Once
we remember to take care of ourselves, then we are better equipped to support
those people who need our help and those whose voices have been silenced who
need more voices standing behind them. Through the path of yoga we can bring
peace, light, and love to our communities, to the nation, and to the world!
International Yoga Day was on Sunday. It is celebrated every
year on June 21, 2020, while I knew it was the day for yoga, I devoted my day
to spending time with my dad since it was also Father’s Day. I hope everyone who
participated in International Yoga Day had a wonderful day and did some lovely
yoga! International Yoga Day is celebrated to spread awareness about the
importance and effects of yoga in the health of people. There is no doubt that
yoga has many health benefits for the mind, body, and soul! I did enjoy a nice
walk and even bought a yoga specific book! So I guess you can say I did my part
for IYD! <grin>

There is no denying my love of books and notebooks… I’m
obsessed with books and their contents. I am constantly involved in some form
of reading. And crisp, clean notebooks are a weakness of mine and they provide
room for all those creative thoughts, rants, and personal endeavors I
constantly have to fill them with. For Father’s Day, I visited my dad in
Baltimore, MD. We took the Light Rail to downtown Baltimore and walked around
the Inner Harbor, as many things are still closed this was about all we could
do. There is a very interesting Barnes and Nobel there that has a long history.
Before it was a Barnes and Nobel it was home to a few different places, however
it was originally a power plant with the original smoke stacks still intact,
but not in use. They provide excellent and original architecture to the
bookstore. Wondering around the two story book store I found some books that
caught my interest and one really interesting notebook.
I needed a new evening meditation books since I finished The Cup of Our Life a couple of weeks
back. While wondering around aimlessly on the second floor I saw the table for
Christian books, I perused it over and one book caught my eye instantly Anxious for Nothing: Finding Calm in a I
cannot wait to jump into this book and share in my venture with it! On the
table next to this I found the Goldfinch, which is on my list and winner of the
Pulitzer Prize and from my experience books who are awarded this prize are very
good books that are well written! The next two books I found on the book annex
table and both were on list and on sale, so of course I had to get them. The
first The World According to Mister Rogers:
Important Things to Remember and the second Wit & Wisdom From the Yoga Mat. Both filled with positive and
good things to remember and to help you get through the day. The Wit & Wisdom book includes peaceful
yoga poses, mindful musings and simple tricks for leading a Zen Life –
according to the cover of the book <grin> But I now begin my days with my
daily devotional reading, a blurb from Mister Rogers and a page out of Wit & Wisdom. Not a bad way to start
the day! These are all reminders to me that nothing is impossible, nothing is
too bad to overcome, and if we just take time to listen and just be we can live
a much calmer and peaceful life!
The notebook is from Kiki's Delivery Service, that I have never seen but am very interested in seeing, but I couldn't resist a notebook with a cute girl witch and her black cat on the cover!
That’s all for now, still enjoying life at home and working
on a few projects. This is the last week of my herbal course, which I will be
sharing with you soon. And I will continue on with my foraging course for a few
more months.
Head on over to IG to see my story highlight from my recent
trip to Baltimore!
Have a lovely week, my friends!
