Annoyed at Home
Have you ever been annoyed to the point where that annoyance
is about to ruin your whole day? You’re in the middle of doing something, you’ve
got a good system going and you are getting things done, but then all of a
sudden something disrupts the perfectly good flow you’ve got going. Or maybe something
unexpected happens and you have to drop what you are doing to take care of that
something… And with everyone staying home, tensions can be even higher.
I have definitely felt annoyance's pestering manner creeping into my perfectly planned out day. I especially feel it if that annoyance comes at a time when I do not want to be bothered. As a writer and a person who enjoys their privacy and the quiet one little annoyance can disturb the equilibrium I create for myself when I am alone or trying to work. In that moment when my anger is starting to build I can choose to let that anger out or let it flutter into nothing. I can choose to allow that annoyance to ruin my day or I can simply go about my day and act like it never happened. You have that same choice.
Don't fret my friend yoga is here to help. Yoga is a great way to help dissolve that annoyed feeling. In
this instance that is exactly what I chose to do. I found myself on my mat
after being interrupted and annoyed to once again find my balance and peace.
After the 40 minute YouTube video I did I was much more relaxed. It was like I had
been showered with calmness. I was now ready to go about the rest of my day
with a sense of peace. Yoga is good like that, at least for me it is. This is
not the first time yoga has brought me back from the brink of anger. It has
pulled me out of anxiety and depression. It has been with me through many
stages of my life and it will be there for many more. Maybe you have a similar experience
with yoga. In this case I did not want to spend the rest of my day worried
about something that could have waited. Do not let that little annoyance or your
anger or your frustration ruin your day, instead find yourself on a mat and
practice yoga. If this is not an option for you even doing 10 deep breaths can
help, and guess what that’s yoga.
We are living in uncertain times right now. Being annoyed is real, anxiety is real; yoga can help and you can do it from the comfort of your own home. There are
many great resources out there for virtual yoga classes. YouTube has been my go
to for at home yoga videos for years. It has a number of yoga teachers who have
been posting videos for years and they have yoga videos for EVERYTHING! You
know my number one girl is Yoga with Adriene, though! I know with studios
closing many of those studios are now doing virtual yoga through Zoom and
YouTube. Check to see if your local studio is a part of this and support them
through these stay at home orders. My YTT teacher, Carrie Treister, has begun
doing live videos and sharing them on YouTube. Go check her out!
Choose today to let go of the annoyances and frustrations
and anger. Time is a precious thing; once it is gone it can never be brought
back. Your time is important, your health and balance are important. Use it
wisely. Find the joy, happiness and peace that yoga can bring to your life.
Below I have attached the video that I did on this
particular annoying day. I hope it brings you the same peace that I felt after
doing it. I have also attached one of Carrie’s videos that I enjoy. She is a wonderful teacher and can speak right to your body. Her videos are in studio class style videos, an hour long with a savasana. Enjoy!!
Namaste my friends.
Stay well.
