The other day a friend of mine asked me what I do when I become frustrated of overwhelmed with myself. I gave her my simple answers, but then it got me thinking… What do I do with myself when I am feeling frustrated?

I have come up with a list of 10 things that help me when I am feeling frustrated, maybe they will help you too. We could all use a little help right now... Use them individually or together, use them however you see fit.

First things first if it is a project you are working on and it is not working out the way you want put it aside and step away from it, then step out of your comfort zone.

Here are my 10 ways to help with frustration:

  1. Take 3 – 10 deep breaths… fill up your lungs completely and then breathe out slowly
  2. Drink some calming herbal tea… such as chamomile, peppermint, green tea, rose tea or passion flower just to name a few. Also Yogi brand tea makes a blend called Calming Tea, it is great in helping sooth mild tension.
  3. Take a midday nap… a power nap is proven to up productivity and recharge the mind and body. Take anywhere between 15-30 minutes, after lunch, anything after that may cause more fatigue.
  4. Do some yoga… it doesn’t have to be long or particularly involved, Yoga with Adriene offers anywhere from a 10 minute routine to an hour. Choose what suits your schedule and your needs.
  5. Go for a walk… getting out into nature can also recharge your body and your mind and possible help clear any negative thoughts or brain fog. Breathe in that fresh air!
  6. Sit in silence and meditate… allow your thoughts to flow while letting all negative thoughts go.
  7. Write it down… write down exactly what is frustrating you then crumble it up and throw it away. This helps release those feelings of frustration in a healthy manner.
  8. Get creative… there are many ways to be creative: write a poem, paint a picture, a wall, a piece of furniture, draw or doodle, sculpt (if you’re into that), journal (bullet journaling is a great way to help deal with feelings of frustration)
  9. Dance it out… put on an energetic song and let the rhythm of the music move you.
  10. Scream… there is no better way to let out frustration than a good ol’ scream!

There you have it folks 10 ways to help combat frustration. Let me know if you try any of these or if you have other ways that help you fight frustration. I’d love to hear them! Just leave a comment below.

Namaste.

P.s. Remember "Frustration, although quite painful at times, is a very positive and essential part of success." - Bo Bennett... don't let frustration get you down, use it to your advantage. Learn and grow from it!
