Ego says vs. Spirit says

I came across this quote on Pinterest the other day and it got me thinking. It wasn't until I found yoga and came in tune with my spirit that I began to feel at peace with my life. Worrying was my thing to do. Freak outs and panic attacks were most common, only getting worse with age and more responsibilities. I would work myself up over the smallest thing and cause myself all kinds of stress. I was overbearing at these times and a pain to be around, I'm sorry to say. I wasn't at peace with myself yet.
My teacher training taught me to be authentic. At first I had to think what this was because up until that point I really had no idea who I was or what it is that I wanted to do or who I wanted to become. My teacher training also taught me to be calm, breathe and focus. It taught me to have a clear mind about everything, to take things as they come and to not worry about the outcome. For when we worry we cause ourselves stress. Stress causes us dis-ease. We do not need to have everything figured out, we do not need to put ourselves on certain time lines, we do not need more stress. People's time lines come at various stages of life and for me that is okay. Finding peace should not be about waiting until we have all of this figured out. Finding peace should come before.
For me it wasn't until I found peace with myself and my life that things began to fall into place. Maybe some of you can relate to this, but maybe some of you need to know that it is okay if you do not have everything figured out right now; for your time will come. Finding peace in life, however, comes with great rewards. For when we are at peace we can live and spread kindness, compassion, love, and patience with others and ourselves. We are in a time when these things are needed most.
Now when situations arise I remind myself to breathe first. Then I proceed to handle each situation as it comes about. I talk myself down from getting overworked and I can come at situations with a clear mind.

It's quotes like these that make me stop and think yes that is how it should be. I hope that it stops to make you think on this a little as well. For finding peace has brought me the greatest benefits of my life.
