My Garden

I have always enjoyed gardens and nature. They bring life and beauty to this world. I enjoy having plants in my home for these reasons. Also because they bring purpose. It takes a lot to tend a garden. Plants are alive and it takes attention to detail to care for them. They need water and sunlight and overall care. But I don't have to tell you that....

I have never lived in a place, outside of my parents house, that has allowed me to have an outdoor garden. But I have always wanted a garden. I have had indoor plants at the various places I lived but they for one reason or another never survived for very long. It could have been due to a lack of many things. This year, however, I live in a beautiful apartment on the top floor with wonderful big windows that provide plenty of sunshine and lots of air flow. I decided that this year I am going to have an indoor garden. I have a perfect place for it and it brings me joy to take care of plants.

Mother's Day weekend my mom and I went to various plant sales around the area. And then to a big beautiful garden in Mansfield, OH known as Kingwood Gardens. The gardens has acre after acre of various flowers all in spring time bloom. The colors were intoxicating. The weather was perfect. We also toured the mansion on the grounds. A walk around the pond will bring you to the green houses. In the one green house there are various succulents and plants. The air in there was thick with heat, humidity and moisture. So many different succulents that I have never seen. Each one as interesting as the next. In the back of this green house is the plant store, which I was most excited to get to! I wanted to get more plants. I picked up a few but there were so many other plants I wanted to get however I had picked up so many others the day before. The shop also had an area with fairy garden supplies so of course I had to pick up a field mouse to go with my other animals friends. In the other part of the green house there were tropical bromeliads and other various tropical plants. It was even warmer in this area. I began to sweat as I walked through here. Out back of the green houses there is an area in the garden with a variety of herbs some for cooking, some for medicinal purposes, and some for various other uses. These were interesting to look at and see the different uses for these plants.

It was a delightful weekend spent with my momma for Mother's Day and a perfect weekend to get out into nature. I am thankful for the cooperative Ohio weather. And I am thankful for having such a wonderful, caring, supportive mother!

I have been working diligently and proudly on my indoor garden. These babies bring even more beauty and overall happiness into my home. I love them and my garden. They make me smile. They brighten up my kitchen and my home. This is a place of peace and calmness in my home. They bring me joy and taking care of them has purpose. I hope I don't kill them...
